Obverse description Central device depicts the Russian state emblem, a double-headed eagle with wings displayed, rendered in a simplified modern style against a mirror-polished field. The denomination 3 РУБЛЯ and the date 1997г. appear in the upper legend, while the legend БАНК РОССИИ (Bank of Russia) curves along the lower portion. The fineness notation Ag 900 appears to the lower left of the eagle, and the weight designation 31.1 appears to the lower right, flanking the Moscow Mint monogram (ММД) at the base.
