背面描述 The reverse presents a richly detailed commemorative scene honoring Admiral Pavel Stepanovich Nakhimov. In the foreground, a full-length figure of an officer in Imperial Russian naval uniform stands facing left, holding a rolled chart or document, positioned beside a fired cannon with smoke billowing to the right. To the left of the central figure rises a tall commemorative column surmounted by an eagle, evoking the Nakhimov monument in Sevastopol. In the background, a naval battle scene unfolds across the field, depicting multiple sailing warships of the line engaged in combat, with cannon smoke and battle debris rendered in relief. The Cyrillic inscription П.С. НАХИМОВ arcs prominently along the upper portion of the field.

附加信息

Pavel Nakhimov commanded the Russian Black Sea Fleet at the Battle of Sinop in November 1853, where his squadron destroyed an Ottoman frigate force in one of the last significant engagements fought entirely under sail. The victory was strategically hollow — it provoked Britain and France into entering the Crimean War on the Ottoman side. Nakhimov was killed by a sniper's bullet at the Malakhov bastion during the siege of Sevastopol in July 1855, having refused to leave the front lines despite explicit warnings.

This coin is part of Russia's long-running commemorative silver program issued through the Bank of Russia's collector series. Nakhimov was also honored with a Soviet-era naval order bearing his name, established in 1944.
