The Naval Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Kronstadt was consecrated in 1913 but fell into severe disrepair during the Soviet period, when it was converted successively into a cinema, a concert hall, and a storage facility. A major restoration effort, backed in part by the Russian Orthodox Church and federal funding, was completed in 2013 — exactly a century after the original consecration, which is precisely why this coin exists.
