| Reverse description | The central field depicts a modern football player in dynamic pose with a ball at his feet. To the left stands the emblem of the Russian Olympic Committee, while to the right appear two stylised football players rendered in the costume and style of the early 20th century, evoking the era of the Fifth Olympiad (London, 1908). An arcing legend along the upper rim reads «ОЛИМПИЙСКИЙ ВЕК РОССИИ» (THE OLYMPIC CENTURY OF RUSSIA), and along the lower rim «ФУТБОЛИСТЫ В ИГРАХ V ОЛИМПИАДЫ» (FOOTBALL PLAYERS IN THE FIFTH OLYMPIC GAMES). |

| Additional information |
Issued as part of Russia's first major commemorative silver program following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, this coin was struck ahead of the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States — the first World Cup in which Russia competed as an independent federation, having previously entered tournaments under the Soviet banner. The transition from Soviet to Russian footballing identity was administratively abrupt; FIFA recognized the Russian Football Union as a direct successor only in 1992.
Struck at the Moscow Mint (MMD) with a reported mintage of 40,000 pieces.
