Opmerkingen

In the aftermath of the October Revolution, dozens of regional and municipal authorities across Siberia improvised their own currency when central supply collapsed entirely. The Chita branch of the State Bank opted for one of the more direct solutions: rubber-stamping existing Imperial-era 3-rouble Romanov notes with a local control overprint to assert regional validity. Two distinct stamp types are recorded for this series — Type 1 being the earlier application.

Chita was at the heart of the Transbaikal region, which changed hands repeatedly between Bolshevik, White, and ataman Semyonov-controlled forces between 1917 and 1920. Notes from this branch carry that volatility in their provenance.
