| Reverse description | The reverse presents a detailed relief composition centered on the building of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, set against a graphical neural-network pattern in the field. An element of the colored anniversary logo commemorating the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences appears prominently, while the lower portion features a laser-matte-finished composition of objects symbolizing various scientific disciplines, arranged against a decorative pattern developed for the tercentenary. The inscription 'РОССИЙСКАЯ АКАДЕМИЯ НАУК' (Russian Academy of Sciences) arcs in relief along the upper-left circumference. The reverse was designed by Elizaveta Davydova. |

Issued as part of the Bank of Russia's long-running commemorative program honoring national institutions, this coin marks the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences, founded by Peter the Great in 1724 — though the institution didn't hold its first meeting until after his death the following year. The Academy was modeled explicitly on the Paris and Berlin academies, and Peter recruited its founding membership almost entirely from abroad, particularly from the German states.
