| 背面描述 | Panoramic bird's-eye view depicting the newly founded city of Gothenburg, showing a wide river or harbour in the foreground with several sailing vessels under full sail, rocky outcroppings at the water's edge, buildings and a nascent urban settlement in the middle ground at right, and a large, spreading tree dominating the background centre in an allegorical composition. The encircling Latin elegiac couplet legend, referencing the founding moment and the sheltering tree, reads: QVÆ PRÆBET LATAS ARBOR SPATIATIBVS VBRAS QVO POSITA E PRIMV TEPORE VIRGA FVIT. |

Karl IX founded Gothenburg in 1607 — his second attempt, having established a short-lived settlement at the same site in 1603 that failed to take hold. The 1610 commemorative issue marks the city's formal charter and reestablishment, struck as Sweden aggressively sought to control trade at the mouth of the Göta älv, the only Swedish river outlet to the North Sea not choked by Danish toll stations at the Øresund.
At over 82 grams, this is a substantial multiple-riksdaler piece. Ahlström 73 examples appear infrequently at auction, and survivors in collectible condition are genuinely scarce.
