| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped bust of King Christian VIII facing right, rendered in fine relief with curly hair falling to the nape of the neck. A small mintmaster's initial 'K' is visible at the base of the truncation. The circular Latin legend runs along the full periphery of the coin, separated from the effigy by a plain field. The portrait is executed in a neoclassical style characteristic of mid-19th century Danish coinage. |
