Obverse description A standing armored knight in three-quarter view, raising his right hand in oath while his right arm rests upon a heraldic shield charged with an imperial eagle. Grapevines flank the figure on both sides, evoking the celebrated viticulture of the Rhineland. The entire central design is encircled by the commemorative legend, separated by small decorative stars, all contained within a beaded border.
