| 正面描述 | Central field features the Weimar Republic eagle displayed on a shield, wings spread and head turned to the right, superimposed over a large circular motif. The shield is flanked by stylized oak leaf branches. The circular legend reads DEUTSCHES REICH at the top and DREI REICHSMARK at the bottom, both separated by a beaded inner border. The overall design reflects the restrained neoclassical style characteristic of Weimar-era German coinage. |

The Rhineland had been under Allied occupation since the armistice, a condition set by the Treaty of Versailles with a scheduled withdrawal not due until 1935. Germany's foreign minister Gustav Stresemann had spent years negotiating an early evacuation, achieved through the Young Plan agreements of 1929-30 — the last French troops left in June 1930. This coin was struck to mark that departure.
As a pattern (Probeprägung), KM Pn96 never reached circulation. Whether rejected on technical or political grounds is not firmly documented.
