| Reverse description | One-fifth segment cut from a Spanish Colonial (Mexican) 8 Reales, with a circular countermark applied to the field bearing the numeral '3', officially stamped by Curaçao authorities to validate and denominate the piece as 3 Reaal (18 Stuivers). The countermark is incuse within a raised circular border, clearly impressed into the silver surface of the host coin fragment. Partial design elements of the original 8 Reales reverse are visible surrounding the countermark, including remnants of the royal arms and legend of the host coin. The lower straight edge retains the original reeded milled border of the parent coin. |
