The cartouche is surrounded by a plain inner circle, with the pious Latin legend SIT NOMEN DOMINI BENEDICTVM — 'Blessed be the name of the Lord' — disposed around the outer margin. The overall design reflects the devotional character common to small-denomination Silesian coinage of the 1560s, struck on a rough irregular flan by the hammered technique. |
