| Reverse description | The reverse bears a five-line inscription in large, bold Roman capital lettering arranged centrally across the field: the Roman numeral III flanked by two six-pointed star ornaments at the top line, followed by PFENNIGE, SCHEIDE, MÜNZE., and the date 1819. below, with the mint-master's initials F.W. at the base. The lettering is raised in high relief against a flat, unadorned field. A beaded or milled border encircles the entire reverse, consistent with the obverse treatment. The design is purely typographic with no pictorial elements, typical of small-denomination Scheidemünze (subsidiary coinage) of the German states in the early nineteenth century. |
