Reverse description Central field features a large numeral 3 denoting the denomination, set within a lozenge-shaped ornamental frame formed by two crossed foliage-decorated staves or batons, adorned with elaborate scrollwork at each corner. A small floriated cross surmounts the numeral from above. The date 16 - 23 is distributed in the upper portion of the field flanking the cross finial. The overall design is characteristic of early seventeenth-century German small coinage, with dense decorative infill filling the remaining field.
