| Reverse description | Central field displays the Roman numeral III in bold relief, denoting the face value of three Pfennig, set within an inner beaded or rope-edged circle surmounted by a small crown. The surrounding field is filled with elaborate floral and foliate ornaments, including scrolling vine tendrils and small rosettes, characteristic of the decorative vocabulary of 17th century German pfennig coinage. The overall design is struck on a broad, thin flan typical of hammered billon issues of the County of Lippe under Count Simon Philip. |
