Aanvullende informatie

John George IV ruled Saxony for barely three years before dying of smallpox in 1694 — almost certainly contracted from his mistress Magdalena Sibylla of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck, who preceded him in death by only weeks. His reign produced relatively little in the way of coinage reform, and these small silver issues were struck against the backdrop of a court consumed by that scandalous affair rather than monetary policy. The electorate's minting apparatus at Dresden and Leipzig continued largely on inertia from his father's administration.
