Obverse description Plain brass field featuring the issuer's name arranged across three lines in bold raised Latin capital letters: HEINR. & AUG. on the upper portion, BRÜNING prominently in the centre, and HANAU A/M. arching along the lower field. The entire design is enclosed within a fine denticulated inner border running around the full circumference, with a plain raised rim beyond it. The inscription is the sole design element, with no figurative motifs, reflecting the utilitarian character of this World War I-era notgeld token.
