| Obverse description | The city arms of Wismar displayed centrally in the field, consisting of a quartered shield with the characteristic heraldic devices of the city, supported by decorative mantling or scrollwork on either side. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading MONETA NOVA WISMARIENSIS, denoting the coin as new coinage of the city of Wismar.
