| Obverse description | Central field displays a crowned shield bearing the initial 'F' for Duke Frederick I of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, surmounted by a ducal coronet. The shield is flanked on both sides by laurel branches that cross at the base, forming a wreath. The date numerals appear at the lower portion of the design, partially integrated into the wreath.
