Obverse description Central field dominated by a large cursive initial, likely a stylized letter 'N' for Northeim, rendered in an ornate calligraphic manner typical of 17th-century German municipal coinage. A crown surmounts the monogram in the upper field. The numeral of the year or a subsidiary mark appears to the lower left. The coin is struck on a roughly prepared flan with a plain, slightly irregular border consistent with hammered technique.
