The dual denomination, pesos alongside reales, reflects exactly that transitional moment: decimal and colonial monetary systems running in parallel because the public hadn't yet accepted one over the other. Lit. Ayala / Medrano was a Bogotá lithographic workshop, not an international security printer, which shows in the note's vulnerability to forgery — manuscript authorization signatures and an applied seal were the primary safeguards.
