| Obverse description | Uncrowned left-facing effigy of King George VI, modelled by Thomas Humphrey Paget, occupying the central field. The portrait depicts the King in a plain, unadorned style without crown or laurels, consistent with the coinage convention established for his reign. A fine beaded border runs along the coin's periphery. The circular Latin legend reads GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX, interrupted by the portrait, with the engraver's initials HP discreetly positioned below the truncation of the bust. |
