背面描述 Central device comprising three oak sprays arranged in a symmetrical, interlaced composition, each bearing deeply relief-carved lobed leaves and acorns; one spray bears an acorn at the apex pointing upward, with two further acorns positioned at the lower left and lower right. The engraver's initial G appears at the centre of the design. The denomination THREE · PENCE · curves around the upper periphery, flanked by raised beading, while the date 1936 is prominently displayed in large numerals along the lower field, separated by small lozenge ornaments. The reverse was designed by George Kruger Gray and introduced with the fourth coinage type of George V in 1927.

附加信息

The shift to .500 fine silver for British coinage came with the Coinage Act of 1920, driven by the post-WWI spike in silver prices that made the old .925 standard coins worth more as bullion than face value. This fourth-issue threepence carried that debased standard through the remainder of George V's reign. The type was effectively obsolete before the king died — the Mint had already been developing the twelve-sided brass threepence that would eventually replace it entirely under George VI.
