Reverse description The Australian Commonwealth coat of arms displayed centrally in the field, depicting a shield divided into six quarters representing the six states, supported on the dexter side by a kangaroo and on the sinister side by an emu. The word THREEPENCE appears in the upper legend and ADVANCE AUSTRALIA in the lower legend, both inscribed in raised Latin letters. The date is placed in the exergue below the coat of arms, with the mintmark, where present, appearing immediately beneath the date. The design is enclosed within a dentilated border and was engraved by William Henry James Blakemore.
