Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Edward VII, engraved by George William de Saulles whose initials 'DES' appear below the truncation. The king is depicted with short hair, a full beard and moustache, rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail. The surrounding legend reads EDWARDVS VII D:G: BRITT:OMN:REX F:D: IND:IMP: separated by raised dots, and is contained within a fine dentilled border.
