| Description de l’avers | Full-face crowned effigy of King Edward VI, characteristic of the Third Coinage (1550–1553), struck in the Tudor hammered tradition with a boldly rendered frontal portrait. A rose appears in the left field and the Roman numeral III denoting the denomination is positioned in the right field, flanking the bust. A beaded inner circle frames the effigy, while the royal legend in uncial Latin characters is distributed around the periphery between inner and outer beaded borders. The portrait, though compact on this small denomination, conveys the young king's features with the characteristic stylization of mid-Tudor engraving. The shield is rendered in the bold, slightly angular hammered style characteristic of mid-Tudor English silver coinage. The reverse legend in uncial Latin characters runs continuously around the periphery between the inner and outer beaded borders.
