Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King Charles II facing left, extending nearly to the coin's rim, with no inner circle. The Roman numeral III denoting the denomination appears in the right field behind the king's head. A continuous Latin legend encircles the effigy along the periphery, rendered in a crisp milled-issue style characteristic of the post-Restoration English coinage.
