| Obverse description | Crowned and draped bust of King Charles II facing right, rendered in the late hammered style characteristic of the Interregnum restoration coinage. The king wears an arched crown with fleurs-de-lis and cross pattée finial. The Roman numeral III, denoting the denomination, appears to the right of the portrait in the field. A beaded inner circle frames the design, with the Latin royal legend disposed around the periphery. The mintmark Crown appears at the top of the legend, above the crown. |
