Obverse description The obverse displays five large Chinese characters arranged in a columnar layout across the field, reading 迪化光緒銀圓叁錢 — identifying the Dihua (Urumchi) mint, the Guangxu Emperor's reign, and the denomination of three qian silver coin. The characters are rendered in bold, deeply struck relief with a brushwork aesthetic typical of late Qing provincial coinage. The field is plain and unadorned, focusing attention entirely on the inscriptions. A toothed or beaded border encircles the entire design.
