The legends are rendered in bold, incuse-style raised strokes with a somewhat archaic calligraphic quality. The coin is encircled by a border of fine reeding or beading, clearly visible around the entire periphery. Centred within the ornamental surround is a multi-line Arabic legend reading the mint name, denomination, and regnal date. The inscription identifies the Kashgar Mint (ضرب كاشغر), the denomination of three mithqual (٣ مثقال), and the Hijri year. The finely engraved floral border lends the reverse a distinctly Islamicate aesthetic, reflecting the cultural milieu of the Xinjiang region. A uniform beaded border frames the entire design. |
