Reverse description The central device features the Imperial German eagle displayed, with wings spread, head turned to the right, bearing the shield of the German Empire on its breast and encircled by a wreath of oak leaves. The eagle is surmounted by the Imperial crown. The upper legend reads DEUTSCHES REICH, flanked by the date 1916, while the lower legend DREI MARK is separated from the eagle by two five-pointed stars. A beaded border frames the reverse field throughout.
