背面描述 The Imperial German eagle displayed at centre, depicted with spread wings, crowned head facing right, and an ornate shield upon its breast bearing the Hohenzollern arms. The eagle is rendered in high relief with elaborate feather detail and foliate ornamentation beneath its body. The legend DEUTSCHES REICH arcs around the upper portion of the field, with the date 1910 to the right. The denomination DREI MARK is inscribed along the lower rim, flanked by small six-pointed stars. The design follows the standard Imperial German reverse type as employed on circulation coinage of the period.

附加信息

William Ernest, Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, married Princess Feodora of Saxe-Meiningen in 1910 — a union that produced this pattern strike before the official commemorative issue was approved and released. Pattern pieces for German states in this period were typically submitted to the relevant court for approval, and rejection or modification was common enough that surviving patterns often differ meaningfully from the circulation type. This piece, catalogued under Schaaf 162/G 1, represents one such pre-approval strike.

The marriage itself lasted only until Feodora's death in 1917.
