Obverse description Central depiction of a coal mine headframe (pithead winding tower) with flanking industrial chimneys and ancillary mine buildings rendered in low relief, conveying the region's mining heritage. The date 1922 appears in the field flanking the headframe, with the numeral '1' to the left and '922' to the right. A small decorative ornament or miner's symbol appears in the lower exergue beneath the mine complex. The entire design is bordered by a beaded inner rim, characteristic of German porcelain notgeld of the period.
