Obverse description The Folkung Lion passant rampant, facing left, depicted in high relief within a large inner circle. The lion is rendered in the heraldic style typical of late 16th-century Swedish coinage, with detailed mane and claws. A circular legend surrounds the inner circle along the outer rim of the coin.

(Translation: New coin of the King of Sweden)
Reverse description The small Vasa arms displayed centrally within an inner circle, flanked on either side by the denomination mark and date elements (3 M / 15 90). The Three Crowns of Sweden appear in close proximity to the central arms. A circular Latin legend runs along the outer rim outside the inner circle, naming the king and his titles.
