Reverse description The Imperial German eagle displayed with wings spread, head turned to the left, bearing an ornate breast shield and surmounted by an elaborate imperial crown, rendered in finely detailed high relief at centre. Decorative oak-leaf and scroll mantling fills the lower field beneath the eagle's talons. The legend DEUTSCHES REICH arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by the date 1915 to the right, while the denomination DREI MARK appears along the lower border. Small five-pointed stars flank the lower legend. The field is bordered by a continuous beaded inner rim. The mint mark D, denoting the Munich Mint, appears to the right of the date.
