Opmerkingen

Partenkirchen issued its own notgeld in 1921 as the Weimar inflation began eroding the purchasing power of Reichsmark coinage faster than the central authorities could replace it. Municipal and small-town emergency money of this type was printed locally across Bavaria in enormous variety during this period, and J. A. Schwarz of Lindenberg im Allgäu was one of several regional job printers who picked up steady notgeld work as demand spiked.

Partenkirchen would merge with the neighboring town of Garmisch in 1935 — a forced administrative union under National Socialist consolidation policy — making all pre-merger Partenkirchen issues documents of a municipality that no longer exists by that name.
