Kreisausschuss Jerichow II was the district committee for the Jerichow II Kreis, headquartered in Genthin on the Elbe-Havel Canal in what is now Saxony-Anhalt. This 3 Mark note belongs to the vast wave of Kleingeldersatz — small-change substitute currency — that flooded Germany in 1921 as coin metal remained scarce and inflation began accelerating toward the catastrophe that would follow within two years. District-level authorities issued these notes under emergency provisions, with no central coordination of design or print quality.
The DeNG reference places this as the fourth variant in the series, suggesting the Kreis issued multiple successive printings to meet ongoing demand.
