附加信息

Philip Louis I ruled Hanau-Münzenberg from 1576 until his death in 1580, a reign short enough that his coinage output was limited across all denominations. The 3 Kreuzer was a workhorse denomination in the fragmented currency environment of the Holy Roman Empire during this period, when the proliferation of small silver from dozens of minor counts and lordships created chronic headaches for merchants attempting to reconcile values across territorial boundaries.

Hanau-Münzenberg's mint rights were a recurring point of friction with neighboring territories throughout the sixteenth century.
