Aanvullende informatie

Bavaria's 3 Kreuzer was a workhorse of small commerce throughout the German states, and Louis I struck this denomination consistently across nearly two decades before his forced abdication in 1848 — a abdication driven not by political revolution but by the scandal surrounding his obsessive relationship with the Irish dancer Lola Montez, whose influence over Bavarian court appointments had become publicly untenable. The series continued posthumously in his name through 1856 under successor Maximilian II, who retained the obverse type during the transition.
