| Additional information |
Leopold I's three-kreuzer pieces from Graz span nearly the entirety of his 47-year reign — one of the longest in Habsburg history — during which the empire fought the Ottomans, expelled Jews from Vienna, and navigated the aftermath of the Thirty Years' War. The Graz mint served Styria specifically, a hereditary land with its own estates and fiscal demands distinct from the Vienna operation. Production continuity across such a long reign means date collectors encounter dozens of annual varieties, and die workmanship quality varies considerably by decade.
