Beschrijving voorzijde Central field displays the Schlick family coat of arms, a quartered shield with elaborate heraldic devices, supported on either side by rampant lions as shield-bearers. Above the shield, a helmeted effigy or crest figure is depicted facing forward. The circular legend reading HEINRIC SCHLICK CO A PAS surrounds the central device, identifying Heinrich Schlick, Count of Passau. The coin is struck in typical hammered style with slightly irregular flan, consistent with early seventeenth-century Bohemian coinage.

Aanvullende informatie

The Schlick family were among the most consequential figures in Bohemian mining history — their Joachimsthal silver mines, operating from the early sixteenth century, produced the original Joachimsthaler coins from which the word "dollar" ultimately derives. By 1627, however, the family's fortunes had collapsed. Their lands were confiscated following the Battle of White Mountain in 1620, and the comital title was stripped from the senior line after Joachim Andreas von Schlick was executed in Prague's Old Town Square in 1621 as one of the twenty-seven Bohemian leaders condemned for rebellion against the Habsburgs.

This issue was struck under Heinrich during the uncomfortable years of partial restoration, while the family navigated Catholic imperial favor to recover fragments of their former holdings.
