Obverse description Within a beaded circular border on a square klippe flan, the Schaffhausen ram depicted in left profile, leaping from a town gate or architectural element at right. The date 1624 appears in the upper portion of the legend. The overall composition is characteristic of early seventeenth-century Swiss municipal coinage, with the civic symbol rendered in a bold, stylised manner.
