Obverse description Within a raised square klippe flan, a central circular field contains the crowned Frankfurt eagle displayed with wings spread, facing left, rendered in high relief. The eagle bears a small crown above its head and is shown with outstretched wings and displayed talons in the heraldic tradition of the Free City. The circular legend surrounding the eagle reads FREIE STADT FRANKFURT, separated into two arcs above and below the central device, all set within a toothed inner border.
