Aanvullende informatie

Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt was among the smallest of the German states still exercising coinage rights in the 1830s and 1840s — a privilege that survived largely by political inertia rather than economic necessity. Frederick Günther reigned for over six decades, from 1807 until his death in 1867, making him one of the longest-reigning rulers in the patchwork of Thuringian principalities. The German Monetary Convention of 1838 standardized weights and fineness across the member states, which is precisely what triggered this issue — Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt was brought into compliance, producing these kreuzer pieces in the billon alloy mandated by the convention.
