Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Ferdinand II facing right, wearing armor with a ruffled collar, set within a beaded inner circle. The denomination numeral '3' appears in an oval cartouche at the base of the bust. The surrounding legend is divided by the bust and reads FERDI·II·D·G·R·I·S·A·G·H·B·REX, abbreviating his full imperial and royal titles. The portrait is rendered in the vigorous late-Renaissance style typical of Graz Mint production. The coin's field is flat with a rope-edged border.

Reverse description Three coats of arms arranged in a trefoil formation within a beaded inner circle: the Austrian fess (horizontal bar) at lower center, the Imperial eagle at upper left, and the Styrian panther at upper right, all joined at the center by a decorative boss. Floral ornaments separate the shields. The date appears in the upper field between the legend and the inner circle. The surrounding legend reads ARCH·AVS·DVX·BVR·STYRIA, referencing Ferdinand II's titles as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, and Duke of Styria. A rope-edged outer border frames the design.
