| Obverse description | Crowned and draped bust of Ferdinand I facing right, wearing a royal crown and armor with an ornate collar visible at the shoulder. The portrait is rendered in the late Gothic to early Renaissance style typical of Habsburg coinage of the mid-16th century. The effigy is contained within an inner beaded circle. The surrounding peripheral legend reads FERDINAN•D•G•RO•VNG•BO•REX, identifying the ruler as Ferdinand I, by the Grace of God, King of the Romans, Hungary, and Bohemia. |
