Obverse description Central shield bearing a rampant ibex facing left, the arms of the city of Chur (Curia Rhaetorum), set within a plain inner circle. The surrounding field is bordered by a beaded rim, with the circular Latin legend reading MONETA·NOVA·CVRIAE·RH ET. The device is rendered in the bold, somewhat rustic style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Swiss municipal coinage.
