Obverse description Central field features the crowned Baden coat of arms — a shield bearing the diagonal bend of the Zähringen dynasty — set within a plain border. The shield is surmounted by a princely crown with elaborate finials. The circular legend reads C·H· BADEN LANDMUNZ, distributed around the periphery, denoting the territorial land coinage of the Grand Duchy of Baden. The overall style is restrained and heraldic, characteristic of early nineteenth-century German state coinage.
