| Reverse description | The reverse presents a crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed in the field, its wings spread and each head turned outward, with a small numeral '3' on the breast denoting the denomination of 3 Kreuzer. The eagle is rendered in the bold, somewhat schematic style characteristic of hammered coinage struck in the name of Holy Roman Emperor Matthias I. A circular Latin legend reading MAT I D G EL RO IMP SEM AV surrounds the eagle within a beaded inner circle, with the denomination mark completing the inscription. The flan is irregular, as is typical of hammered issues from minor German lordships of the early seventeenth century. |
