Obverse description Central field features the ornate quartered ducal arms of Saxony displayed on a baroque shield, flanked by the divided initials F·E and V·V in the field to either side. A small imperial orb appears above the shield as a mintmaster or supervisory mark. The peripheral legend runs continuously around the coin in Latin capitals, separated by stops.

Reverse description A crowned double-headed imperial eagle dominates the central field, displayed with spread wings; on the eagle's breast a circular orb bears the numeral 3 denoting the coin's value in kreuzer. The imperial crown at the top of the design divides the date of issue. The encircling Latin legend identifying the ducal titles runs around the periphery, separated by stops.
